What is Botox?

Botox is a drug that is made from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Doctors use it in microscopic doses to treat different health problems such as migraines and allergic reactions. It is most commonly used to temporarily smooth facial wrinkles and to improve your appearance.

Botox has been evaluated and approved by the FDA for safety and efficacy in three main treatment areas including your forehead, between your eyebrows, and around your eyes.
Dentists have a detailed knowledge of facial anatomy and physiology and are just as qualified, if not more so, to administer Botox and fillers. Facial cosmetics coupled with dental restorations and treatments can be used in conjunction to give patients more visually pleasing results.

You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours, with full results in 30 days, with results lasting up to four months for moderate to severe frown lines. Remember that results vary from patient to patient though, so your physician will plan your next appointment based on your results and aesthetic goals.

What are fillers?

As we age our faces tend to lose volume and the most common first signs are seen in the hollowness under the eyes, cheeks, and lips. Fillers are used to fill in these hollow areas to create a youthful appearance.

Lip fillers are the most popular procedure at our offices. Fillers are utilized to help lips look more noticeable or to add some shape.

Hyaluronic acids are naturally occurring in our bodies and are used in many skin care products. Fillers are made from hyaluronic acids in concentrated doses in order to restore fullness and volume to the treated areas. These dermal fillers can also help the body to naturally boost the amount of collagen it is producing.

Fillers are injected right into the area and are immediately noticeable. It is a minimally-invasive procedure that has a short recovery time. Results last an average of six months to a year depending on the area. Fillers are absorbed into the body overtime and leave no residual effects.
